Classic Tailgating Burger
Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 4 hamburger buns
- 4 slices of cheddar cheese
- 4 lettuce leaves
- 4 slices of tomato
- 4 slices of red onion
- Ketchup and mustard for condiments
Instructions:
Preheat your grill to medium-high heat
While the grill is heating up, divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and shape them into burger patties
Season each patty with salt and black pepper on both sides
Place the burger patties on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare or adjust the cooking time to your desired level of doneness
During the last minute of grilling, add a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty and cover the grill to let the cheese melt
Toast the hamburger buns on the grill for about 1 minute or until they are lightly browned
Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, followed by a burger patty with melted cheese, a slice of tomato, and a slice of red onion
Add ketchup and mustard to taste
Top each burger with the other half of the bun and secure with a toothpick if needed
Serve your classic tailgating burgers hot and enjoy
